10 May DIY Personalized Dog Photo Candle

If there’s something we know a friend or loved one absolutely has to have, this one has got to be it! This dog-lover DIY is so customizable, making it versatile for any occasion:

• It’s the perfect gift for your hound-loving Mom this Mother’s Day…something from the heart with a personal touch.
• It’s that something extra-special for a birthday, wedding or baby shower.
• Or best of all, it can make the most endearing tribute in honor of a beloved pup.

Does all this sound too good to be true? Well let’s find out how, in a few easy steps, you can turn a basic white pillar candle into something really special that will be treasured for many years to come!  

You’ll need…

Step 1

Trim a piece of tissue paper so that it’s a bit smaller than a piece of printer paper and then tape the two pieces of paper together. Place the prepared paper into the printer so that it will print onto the tissue side.

Step 2

Select your favorite dog photo, ensure it’s a size that will properly fit the candle, and print it. Cut out the picture (while the two papers are still taped together), leaving a very small margin around it.

Step 3

Cut a sheet of wax paper to size. Then, wrap your tissue paper photo snuggly across the middle of the candle and layer the wax paper on top. Ensure there aren’t any air bubbles under the paper.

Step 4

Holding the wrapped candle firmly in your hand, use your hairdryer to heat the photo. The wax in the wax paper will start melting together with the outer layer of candle wax, securing the tissue paper to the candle. You’ll know it’s working once you start to see the picture getting darker.

Step 5

Work your way around the candle until the picture has a consistent coloration all over. Then, slowly pull off the wax paper. The candle will cool and set in about 15-20 minutes.

There you have it…In a flash, you’ve created a beautiful and personalized gift with stunning results! And your family and friends will simply “oooh! and ahhh!” at your amazing talents. Imagine the possibilities…
