DIY Modern Dog Treat Jar

These modern dog treat jars are simply adorable with their hand-lettered labels, painted lids, and your pup’s mini-me perched on top. Don’t you just love how adding a little look-alike dog figurine easily personalizes the treat jar and pumps up the wow factor?! And best of all, this handy-dandy container will help keep your pup’s goodies tasting fresh and delicious.

You can find small dog statues that match your dog at your local craft or hobby store, online, or in the toy section of most big box stores. Just be sure to get one that’s the right fit for the lid of the jar you choose.

You’ll need…

  • A glass jar with a lid (gallon or quart sized) or recycled glass jar big enough to hold treats
  • Multi-surface acrylic paint or spray paint

Step 1

Wash and dry your glass jar to prepare the container. If there is a sticker on the outside, carefully scrape it free.

Step 2

Glue the dog figure to the center of the lid. Follow the instructions for your adhesive and allow glue to dry.

Step 3

Use a brush to apply a light coat of paint on your dog figurine and the jar lid. It may take several coats of paint to cover these thoroughly. Allow time to dry between each coat.

Step 4

Using a sponge or splatter technique add some texture with a contrasting colored paint. Allow paint to dry.

Step 5

Write your message on the label and attach it securely to the jar. The beauty of these labels is that you can wipe it off and change it up whenever you want!

Then, fill the jar to the brim with yummy, healthy and wholesome snacks! Until next time…Live, love and eat treats!
